The wooden balance bikes for kids are a classy British design and great fun. They have a timeless quality, and yet, like all balance bikes, like the Strider Bike, they are a great way to teach kids to ride a bike. As anyone who has given there kid a balance bike will know, it is a great way to build confidence, and make bike riding instinctive to children from a very young age.
Having taught my little girl to ride her bike the old fashioned way, with stabilizers, fear and tears – the chance to avoid all that has come with my little boy. While my girl didn’t learn to ride her bike properly until she was 6 years old, I know that with a balance bike my younger boy will be riding a lot earlier.
Stabilizers create an unnecessary insecurity about balance. Where the child relies on the stabilizers for balance. A Balance bike doesn’t have stabalizers or pedals, and relies on an instinctive appproach to balance, if using the feet to get momentum, and putting the feet down when one want to stop. This means, that a child doesn’t rely on stabilizers, which only have the effect of setting a child’s learning to ride a bike, back.
There are lots a balance bikes around, but these classic British design wooden bikes are timeless design classics, and look really cool.
I really liked your post. I will come back to learn more.
